Orana Wildlife Park

Set on 80 hectares of park-like grounds, Orana Wildlife Park is New Zealand's largest wildlife and conservation centre and only open range zoo. The Park has been developed as an open range sanctuary for endangered animals, providing them with enclosures as close to their natural habitat as possible. Canterbury Museum

Canterbury Museum is world-renowned for its collections. Housed in an exquisite historic building in Christchurch's cultural precinct, are outstanding Maori exhibits, a Victorian Christchurch Street and stories of adventure and daring from Antarctica's heroic era. A frequently changing exhibition programme complements the Museum's permanent galleries.

The Museum is open every day except Christmas Day, 9.00 am - 5.30 pm (October-March) and 9.00 am – 5.00 pm (April-September).

Rakaia and Terrace Downs

Situated 50km south of Christchurch, Rakaia is the Salmon capital of New Zealand with its river yielding large Salmon and Trout most usually between October and April.
